skana spa please do not make me leave you!

so last february 14th, valentine's day to be exact, billy got me a spafinder gift certificate. you can go to their website and pick a participating spa and go. i was super excited since i love anything to do with the word spa. however, i knew it would be more fun if i had some company. so i did some scheming and told trisha's husband jim how nice it would be for her to receive a spafinder gift certificate for mother's day. he travels quite a bit for his job and trish works and spends a lot of time with their two boys. so needless to say, she was just as excited as i was to receive the blue spa finder box with the "golden ticket" inside! well, summer came fast, and our busy lives kept us from getting to any spa at all. that is, until today. we decided to go to the skana spa at the turning stone. we went over all the options of other spas in the area and
decided to go all out at skana.
we started our day checking in to the lobby. we waited for our attendant to get us as we sat by the fire place. she led us downstairs where the lights were dim and peaceful. we were given a locker that held the most plush and comfortable robe i have ever held in my hands, as well as complimentary flip flops.
our spa journey began in the sauna. we spent a few minutes in there, not too long! then we headed to the hot springs tub and the mineral pool. we were enjoying all of this to ourselves almost the entire time!

about 15 minutes before our first spa treatment we lounged in the relaxation room, with our robes on, feet up and the fireplace blazing. then we were led to get our pedicures. we picked out our "flavors" of scrub, mask, and moisturizer. i opted for mainly a mint theme, while trish went with a lavender ensemble. there were several other options to chose from, mostly fruity combinations. the pedicure lasted over an hour and a half. it included a massage, paraffin wax dip and a coat of polish of our choice. after almost falling asleep to my back being massaged from the pedicure chair and having a foot massage at the same time, we were led back into the relaxation lounge to await our "pure results" facial. we were in the same room together so we could chat. however, there was not much chatting since it was so relaxing. not only did we get a facial, we also got a neck, shoulder and face massage, an arm and hand massage and another foot massage. that hour went by way to fast!

we weren't allowed to freely use our cameras throughout the spa, but we snuck a picture of our pretty toes in the locker room!

our last event of the day was a make-up application. neither of us had ever had someone actually apply our make-up, so it was fun to learn new techniques. she did our make-up for the evening, since we were going out to dinner later. so it seemed a bit over the top at first but it was fun!

and here we are leaving for the day, very sad that it was all over!!
